This morning, I put a big load of towels on the line to dry. Later on, in the afternoon, I took hubby to the truck in the neighboring town. Showery clouds were forming in the area. The towels on the line at home were the furthest thing from my mind. I plumb forgot they were there. After I dropped him off, I went to wallyworld. As I left there after a bit, I saw this to the east, where our little town is.
I drove in some sprinkles on the way home. Came into town, and everything looked drenched, like the main part of that shower went right through town. As I pulled up to the house .... there they were, my towels on the line! Well, they were "a little damp" to say the least, but I just left them out there. It showered off-and-on all afternoon. It got awfully windy one time. Finally in the evening, I went out to bring them in, that's when I took this photo. I expected them to be damp at the least, soggy at the most. But they were basically DRY. A little ruffled around the lines from the wind, but dry. I was glad! I was prepared to use the dryer, but instead was just able to fold them and put them away. "WHEW" But I'm really not upset about it ... we need the rain awfully bad! And we're thankful for every drop, praise God.

Seeds
A few days ago I got some "mini" planting containers from Tractor Supply. The one on the left is supposed to be cactus, and the one on the right is supposed to be butterfly plant. So we will see. I DO NOT HAVE A GREEN THUMB. Gardening and flowers have been excruciating trials the last few years. This is about my speed. You can't see in the picture, but on the left is an African Violet that a lady gave me a start of a few years back, and it has done pretty good. Even with my forgetting to water a lot of the time. To the right is a green plant of some kind that our pastor's wife gave to me recently, it's supposed to be easy to take care of. So here by my kitchen window sill is the extent of my "plant" hobby. Now to see if those seeds will sprout.

Friendship Bread
Look what I got.
Yesterday in Sunday School, a gal shared some delicious coffee cake for a treat while we studied. After class, she gave me a "starter" of the Friendship Bread that the coffee cake was made from. So now I'm on schedule to "mush" the bag for 9 days, add more stuff on one of those days, then bake a yummy loaf of bread on the 10th day.

Made these the other night, sure didn't last long! Biscuit dough, but rolled and made kind of like cinnamon rolls.

Super-Spicy Chicken-Onion Quesadilla
I had a hankerin' hit yesterday for a quesadilla. Well, my brain started churning about what-all we had on hand, and I came up with a plan. Hubby asleep (works nights), Younger Son at school, and Older Son was home on a day off. So I had just enough tortillas to fix Older Son and I each a quesadilla for lunch.
First, I sauteed most of a large onion and some jalapeno slices in some olive oil. As that got done, I added a big drained can of chicken meat, some salsa, and spices (salt, pepper, red pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano and chili powder). Then I let all this simmer awhile. (Added a little water to keep it from being too dry and to help the spices mix through.)
The oven was heated to 350. I buttered one side of four tortillas. Put two buttered-side down on a baking pan. Sprinkled on a layer of shredded cheddar cheese. Spooned on the filling, topped with more cheese, then the other two tortillas, buttered side up. Baked for 15-20 minutes, and cut into wedges to serve. Some toppings would be excellent with these, such as sour cream, more salsa, olives, etc. It was delicious. AND SPICY. Older Son's more so, as he added some habanero sauce to his!
